At the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, I explored natural product discovery through the extraction of antifungal phenolic compounds from brown seaweed for the development of a 3D-printable, bio-based antifungal building material.
I will build on this research at the INEOS Oxford Institute (IOI), investigating the biosynthetic potential of human-associated commensal microorganisms to discover novel antifungal scaffolds against drug-resistant fungal pathogens, and explore their potential as potentiators of existing antifungal therapies. Through this research, I aim to contribute to overcoming the limitations of current antifungal treatments.
