I completed my PhD from Cardiff University, UK (under School of Medicine) in 2020, funded by Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. I am a medicine graduate and therefore, in 2011 I obtained an M.Phil in Medical Microbiology from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh. I was also awarded an ISID research fellowship (2014) at Uppsala University, Sweden. My research focuses on the genetics and molecular biology of MDR/XDR bacteria and how these impact on patients in low-middle income countries. I am interested to find out possible interventions to preclude the spread of AMR. Currently I am working as Scientific Project Manager in Wellcome Trust funded project to understand the impact of COVID-19 on bacterial sepsis, antibiotic consumption and stewardship, and antimicrobial resistance. I am also involved with ‘BURN PROJECT’, a study examining the burden of AMR among the patients with burn sepsis and ‘One Health’ projects in Bangladesh and Laos.
