Research Interests

The ability to distinguish self from non-self genetic elements is essential for safeguarding genomes against internal and external threats. Transposons, also called "jumping genes”, are mobile DNA sequences typically kept in check through epigenetic silencing. However, how plant cells initially recognize transposons and differentiate them from regular host genes remains unclear. At the Cho Lab, my research focuses on elucidating these fundamental molecular recognition mechanisms.
