I am primarily interested in applied conservation research and better understanding animal behaviour and movement to inform practical conservation management. My DPhil is focused on evaluating conservation tools for black rhino in Kenya, through investigating the use of translocations as a conservation tool, focusing on settlement behaviour, movement, survival and connectivity following translocation.
By combining long-term monitoring with spatial and behavioural data, I hope to identify the conditions that enable translocated rhinos to establish successfully and contribute to viable, connected populations. Ultimately, my aim is for my research to support more effective conservation decision-making and contribute to the long-term recovery of threatened wildlife, while also helping bridge the gap between academic research and conservation practice.
