My interests centre on tackling the growing crisis of antimicrobial resistance. My DPhil aims to identify novel antimicrobial compounds to treat drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other non-tuberculous mycobacteria. I’m especially interested in the models used in M. tuberculosis drug screening, and the mechanisms underlying drug synergy.
Before starting my DPhil, I read Biomedical Sciences at Oxford, graduating with a First. For my Master’s project, I worked with Dr Rachel Tanner as part of the Ineos Oxford Institute’s Tuberculosis Grand Challenge, focused on the in vitro evaluation of novel M. tuberculosis inhibitors. More broadly, I’m passionate about translating laboratory discoveries into therapies that can help combat the global threat of antimicrobial resistance.
