I am a graduate student in the Clegg lab researching the evolution of island-dwelling birds. I am broadly interested in evolutionary processes such as adaptation, hybridisation and extinction and their consequences for biodiversity. For my DPhil, I am using genomics as a tool to investigate these processes in Pacific white-eyes (genus Zosterops), a highly diverse group of birds known as "great speciators." Using DNA collected both in the field and from museum specimens, I aim to characterise the dynamics of hybridisation and extinction and their roles in the creation (or erosion) of biodiversity. This research has the potential to inform conservation efforts for endangered island endemics.
