I have always been fascinated by the behaviours we share with other species and, in recent years, by the role mathematics can play in understanding them.
My DPhil project focuses on developing mathematical models of sequential decision-making in time allocation and testing their predictions empirically. These models aim to capture how behavioural patterns respond, through feedback processes, to ecological changes such as seasonal shifts in food availability, and how these patterns are modified by developmental changes such as the onset of sexual maturity.
