My research interests centre on understanding how epigenetic modifications and chromatin dynamics regulate gene expression and enable the inheritance of non-genetic information. My previous research experiences in genetics and epigenetics have shaped my motivation in how histone modifications, small RNAs and 3D chromatin organization establish and maintain heritable epigenetic states. During my DPhil, I will investigate transgenerational epigenetic inheritance in Drosophila, focusing on chromatin contacts and H3K27me3-mediated repression and how these states are reset during embryogenesis and gametogenesis. Ultimately, I aim to contribute to our understanding of how epigenetic information is inherited without changes in the underlying DNA sequence and its role in gene regulation in development and disease.
