I study how interactions between viruses and their hosts have shaped the evolution of life. By analysing endogenous viral elements (EVEs)—genetic records of ancient viral infections preserved in host genomes—I reconstruct long-term virus–host evolution. My research combines bioinformatics, phylogenetics, mathematical modelling, and open-source software development to investigate these evolutionary processes.
