The Thynne lab performs research into molecular plant-fungal interactions, focussing primarily on apoplastic interactions. We study both the activity of fungal virulence factors (effectors) and plant immune receptors. We aim to use this knowledge to enhance our understanding of how pathogens evade host immune responses and how plant immune receptors recognise effectors and signal defence responses (with the goal of engineering receptors with expanded recognition specificity).
