I am currently a Departmental Lecturer in the Department of Biology, seconded to Wadham College. I run tutorials for all areas of the course, but specialise in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
I am a previous member of the Maiden Lab, working on all things Neisseria. This included the development of a high-resolution typing system for outbreak investigations of meningococci. During my role, I also collaborated and led on work encompassing Campylobacter spp., the Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex, and the Burkholderia cepacia complex. This focused on molecular epidemiology and microbial genomics.
I hold a BSc and MSc and PhD in Microbiology. My PhD was on "Using next generation sequencing approaches to define the population biology and epidemiology of the cystic fibrosis lung pathogen Burkholderia multivorans".
