We are delighted to have Professor Rebecca Mosher joining us as a Professor in Molecular Plant Biology.
Rebecca joins Oxford Biology from the School of Plant Sciences at the University of Arizona. She completed her PhD at Duke University, where she studied transcriptional control of plant immune responses, then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Sainsbury Laboratory and the University of Cambridge.
Rebecca’s research explores gene silencing and how epigenetic information such as DNA methylation is passed from parent to offspring; this passage of information from one generation to the next is one of the fundamental rules of life. Her research focuses on plant systems, and on how small RNA-mediated DNA methylation influences seed development and whether mothers transmit small RNAs to their progeny to modify seed development. Her group combine classical genetics and with modern genomics.
