I'm a student in my 4th year in MBiol, Biology at St Anne’s College, University of Oxford. For my Masters Project I'm looking at the differences in life history traits between aquatic and terrestrial species. I'm investigating how the differences in the environmental factors, mainly temporal autocorrelation, between the two realms have driven the development of different life history strategies. Aquatic environments are known to be more positively autocorrelated, resulting in lower frequencies of environmental fluctuations. On the other hand, terrestrial environments are thought to be more negatively autocorrelated, resulting in higher frequencies of fluctuations. My project explores whether these differences in temporal autocorrelation have resulted in different optimal life history strategies in the two environments.
