My DPhil research looks at the ecological outcomes of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) in England, a policy requiring new developments to improve biodiversity by 10%. I am interested in the proxy biodiversity metric used to evidence BNG and have been collecting data to evaluate how this metric correlates with other dimensions of biodiversity, such as insect communities. My research also explores the contribution of biodiversity offsets under BNG to national conservation goals.
Before my DPhil, I did a BSc in Conservation Biology at the University of Aberdeen, where I developed a research interest in the role of policy for insect conservation efforts.
