Research Interests

My interests lie in quantifying societal values of wildlife. This builds on 20 years' experience facilitating social action in response to urgent environmental and social challenges. I have spent time in national parks, in the UK and Nepal, designing and evaluating environmental education and have also set up a social enterprise, which placed thousands of volunteers into hundreds of civil society organisations globally over 10 years. The specific focus of my DPhil is how corporate values of wildlife, especially among those that employ wildlife symbolism in their name, logo or branding, could inform novel nature-based engagement and investment opportunities. This responds to the recent IPBES values assessment, released in 2022, that emphasises the importance of understanding values as the inner dimensions of sustainability.
