Research Interests

My research project focuses on exploring a deeper understanding on the role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) and cognate RNA in plant immunity and disease susceptibility to improve host plant resistance. The different molecular mechanisms of RNA are carried out through the interaction with proteins, and RBPs play a critical role in the transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene regulation. This project will enable the identification and characterisation of protein bound to RNA, their RNA target, and their role in plant-pathogen interaction. We will extend our analyses from Arabidopsis thaliana to monocot (rice) and dicot (tomato) as model crop species to generate new information that can facilitate the development of novel disease control strategies in economically important crops.
