I am a microbiologist fascinated by how the interplay of ecology and evolution shapes microbial communities such as the one inside our gut. In my current research I am growing synthetic communities of gut bacteria in continuous-flow culture models to understand how the interactions between different species influences key ecosystem properties and ultimately the evolution of their constituent species.
