The shoot apical meristem (SAM) is responsible for the development of all above-ground tissues, keeping a fine balance between cell proliferation and differentiation, to enable the continuous production of organs. Currently, I am interested in exploring the mechanisms by which environmental information is translated into changes in the activity of the SAM and how this information is conveyed via sugar signals and through the Sucrose Non-Fermenting 1 (SNF1) - related kinase 1 (SnRK1).
