The spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria has been highlighted as a global crisis in the 21th century and is pushing us back to the pre-antibiotics era. To combat antimicrobial resistance, we are currently working on the program of INEOS Oxford Institute (IOI) which aims at examining bacterial response to novel antimicrobial compounds and developing candidate antibiotics for animal use in Walsh Lab.
In addition, I am also interested in the dissemination and mechanism of colistin resistance in Enterobacteriaceae.
