Dr Nichola Austen

Research Interests

I am a PDRA working on the Dryland Bioenergy Project.

My current research is aimed at investigating the suitability of plants that use the crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) pathway as a novel feedstock for anaerobic digestion.

These plants can be used to produce biogas, and also high-value products through biorefinery. I have a background in environmental metabolomics, and my PhD investigated the effects of climate change on plant volatile organic compound emissions.
