My research examines biodiversity gradients in deep sea habitats, specifically seamounts. Seamounts are underwater mountains in the deep ocean that support diverse communities of marine life, including deep water corals and sponges that can be thousands of years old. My research aims to characterise the distribution of seamount benthic diversity in the South West Indian Ocean, with the aim of providing data that can better inform spatial management of conservation sites in the region.
