Marine Spatial Ecology Applications

About the group

The Marine Spatial Ecology Applications (MSEA) lab uses the tools of remote sensing, GIS, and geospatial modelling to better understand spatial and temporal dynamics of marine ecosystems. We work across a variety of spatial and temporal scales to deliver practical solutions for conservation, management, and policy, with most of our work exploring environmental patterns, processes and interactions operating at large (national to regional) spatial scales. We work on applied projects relevant to the ocean-climate nexus, quantifying and qualifying ecosystem services, marine biogeography and macroecology with ongoing projects in marine fisheries, shallow water tropical ecosystems, and deep-water ecosystems.
