Evolutionary Genetics and Genomics

About the group

The overarching aim of the group's research is to understand how the evolutionary processes shape the world around us. More specifically, we are interested in how evolutionary forces, such as natural selection, drive the change at the levels of genes and genomes. Two main directions of research have been developed:

  • genome evolution (with the focus on evolution of sex chromosomes)
  • the speciation and adaptation processes, with the recent focus on astronomically large populations of marine phytoplankton
