Enzyme Engineering

About the group

We are interested in enzymes involved in stress-sensing and adaptation in plants. We try and understand structure-function relationships in these enzymes, both in isolation and in the context of the living plant. We then use this knowledge to find ways to manipulate the function of these enzymes to improve stress resilience. One of our major interests is the oxygen-sensing enzymes, the Plant Cysteine Oxidases, which have a key role in adaptive responses to submergence.
