Obituary: Philip Stewart

It is with much sadness that the Department has learnt of the death of Philip Stewart. Philip was a huge part of the Department for many years, having taught economics and ecology in the former Department of Forestry (1975-2007) to undergraduates and MSc students.

As a teacher he was very particularly concerned with emphasising the global nature of ecology which incorporated humans (including their ideas, cultures and economies) and other animals, plants, fungi and microbes, and continuing to teach Ecology into his retirement. He made a great impact on the lives of so many students and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with Lucile and his whole family.
