Nature-based Solutions Conference 2020

Momentum for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to societal problems is building. Using nature to adapt to climate change in particular, has become a central discussion point in the policy world. The Nature-based Solutions Initiative, located in the University Club, has had an exciting year. Most notably, we launched our NbS Evidence Tool during UN Climate Week, which was received with great enthusiasm. The Evidence Tool allows you to explore our systematic map of the peer-reviewed literature on use of NbS for adapting to climatic stressors.

In response to the growing enthusiasm towards NbS we are holding a conference in July 2020 in the Oxford University Museum of Natural History; tickets are now available. We will draw together the current state of the evidence for the socioeconomic and ecological effectiveness of NbS, and explore the social, technical, ethical, ecological, governance and financial challenges around scaling them up. As well as highlighting avenues for further research, we aim to generate guidelines on the design and implementation of NbS targeting decision-makers in business and government.
