Fascination of Plants Day 2016 Success!

On 14th May, DPhil students and postdocs from the department took part in the Fascination of Plants Day 2016, a day that brings scientists and public together to celebrate the importance of plants and the research done in plant sciences.

Our students trekked out to the Harcourt Arboretum and organised different hands-on activities to introduce their research to the visitors - mainly families with children - in an accessible and fun way. These activities allowed them to talk about a range of topics, including: production of biopharmaceuticals, domestication of crops and genetically modified organisms, importance of chromatography and the equilibrium that regulates ecosystems.

The great effort they put into organising the experience resulted in very positive feedback from both visitors and organisers - we are already looking forward to the Fascination of Plants Day 2017!
