I am interested in the evolution of social behaviours in bacteria.
I use the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa that cause infections in the cystic fibrosis lung, to test predictions of social evolution theory. I combine experimental work with bioinformatics to explore how behaviours such as cheating, cooperation and chemical warfare explain population dynamics in clinical infections.
